In collaboration with the amazing Black Girls Book Club, DorcasCreates this beautiful gold plated enamel pin of the founders Melissa Cummings-Quarry and Natalie A Carter

Melissa Cummings-Quarry and Natalie A Carter founded Black Girls Book Club in 2016 after realising there was a lack of safe spaces that celebrated Black women. Since their first event they have hosted debates in Parliament, holidays, raves and hosted inspirational Black women such as Malorie Blackman, Gabourey Sidibe, Liv Little, Munroe Bergdorf, June Sarpong and Afua Hirsch.

Having been recognised by BET with an internationally televised campaign as Influential Change Makers as part of the Black Girls Rock Awards Show in the US, Black Girls Book Club has grown from strength to strength. Now boasting over 900 members with attendees travelling from the US and Spain.

    Meet the Maker

Dorcas Magbadelo has been illustrating as DorcasCreates for 6 years but was always creative growing up - sewing, knitting, baking, painting, printmaking:

"I feel like I've dabbled with everything. Turns out it's somewhat hereditary as my maternal grandfather was a tailor in Nigeria when my mum was growing up. I try to add that element of my heritage to my work; I'm inspired by Yoruba textiles and love playing with mark-making and pattern work in my illustrations."
