Meet the Maker
Nicole Chui

"For me, hearing stories from my mum who worked in the NHS in the 80s was always fascinating, especially because of the relationships she formed through it and her fearlessness of moving to the UK from Malaysia has helped me understand why she is who she is today." - Nicole Chui

Nicole Chui, a Hong Kong-born, London-based artist, who specializes in freestyle hand embroidery. She has collaborated with the Migration Museum on the Heart of the Nation Collection.

Nicole's design celebrates the journeys of those who have migrated to the UK to work in the NHS. Lines spill out from a heart shape, symbolizing the challenges and friendships that come with this experience. Nicole believes that these bonds form the heart of our nation and deserve to be valued and shared for generations.
