Beautiful prints by Himani J Weir from her 'Finding Threads, Tracing Lines' series. This print featured in our Migration Museum window display in Lewisham in 2022, which threw a spotlight on local artists with migrant heritage.

Himani draws on family stories to create unique, evocative artwork. In this piece, her mother Octavia's sister Padma drives the music professor to Trixie's auntie's house, in the family Austin Cambridge. The professor is going to put her piano skills to the test.

Meet the Maker
Himani J Weir

Himani J Weir is a local artist and educator. Second generation Sri Lankan British, Himani specialises in storytelling through her illustration and ceramics.

"Storytelling has endured throughout my life, whether it was a Grimm's fairytale read at bedtime or a Jakata fable read to me from Buddhist text. When my mother recounted scenes from her life in Sri Lanka she spoke in a uniquely animated way. I memorised these stories, knowing one day I would do something with them."
