Belén L. Yáñez was an artist in residence in the art studio at the Migration Museum's Room to Breathe exhibition. Belén comes from Galicia, a land of migrant people or, as she calls it, of explorers. Her desire for travel, adventure and different life experiences is the main trigger of her migration story: from Santiago de Compostela to Budapest and Madrid, then to Sicily – where she worked with the National Institute of Ancient Drama – Belén developed her artistic career in the places she lived in.

  • Size: A4
  • Printed on Conqueror High White Wove 300 gsm paper

Belén is a performance maker, visual artist and educator. Her work focuses on audience interactivity and is concerned with human interactions. She produces experiences that challenge art/audience relationships, creating spaces that push boundaries of personal interaction and where the audience is an active collaborator

    Belén says:

"My collage work is a process of freedom, a medium that allows me to rebuild a new reality, create new narratives playing within layers of imagination.
I use female bodies as a space to express, explore and question ideas about female identity.
All my collages are analog and made with ephemera materials."
