Featuring mouthwatering illustrations from locally-based illustrator Nancy Ellis, the book was written to coincide with what would have been Lewisham’s Borough of Culture year. It features dishes chosen after speaking with local people about the meals they cook and their cultural significance.
They range from national dishes of Nigeria, to the meals cooked before the Jewish festival of Yom Kippur, recipes shared by our Romani community, and traditional British favourites such as chicken and leek pie.
These recipes can be served as feasts, as the centrepieces of a family meal - they are fundamentally sociable food. But even though some recipes may seem intricate or different, they are all achievable. Every single one has been tested and cooked in a home kitchen.
Dishes are split into chapters of meat, poultry, fish, vegetarian, vegan and sweets - with something for every season.
A proportion of each sale will be donated to the Lewisham Food Bank and the Refugee Cafe, who work with refugees to break down barriers and create opportunity, employability and community for those granted asylum in London.
The last order date for Christmas delivery is Wednesday 18th December.
Click and collect from the museum in Lewisham is available to order until Friday 20th December, with collection by Sunday 22nd.
We currently ship to the UK via Royal Mail 48 delivery.

We now offer free click and collect from the Migration Museum in Lewisham Shopping Centre. Please note that the museum is currently open Friday - Sunday.
Ordering our organic cotton, sustainable clothing range
In order that we are able to offer a wide range of sizes and variations of our most popular design, we work with a print-on-demand clothing company. These items will be fulfilled separately from other items ordered from the Migration Museum and will arrive separately.
