Here's an explanation of the design from the Maker...

Literal translation:
(Can)識(Or Cannot)唔識 (Speak)講

This isn’t a slang but a question we often ask.

For example:
識唔識講廣東話
Hey, can you speak Cantonese?
識啦梗係 (of course can)
識聽唔識講 (can understand but can’t write)
識講唔識寫 (can speak but can’t write)
唔撚識 (don’t f**king know)

This is more than a question, it’s an assertion of one’s identity because language is closely linked to our identity. But of course, it doesn’t matter what the answer is, I just love how close this is to heart and how many of us would recognise this very question and the idea it imposes.

Meet the Maker
Fool of a Kind

Fool Of A Kind is born out of love for Cantonese slang culture. Cantonese slangs are the heart of the Hong Kong culture and language - it’s an expression, an identity and a tool for storytelling amongst the people.

"We want to share our appreciation of the distinctive nature of Cantonese slangs by translating them into visual forms - a universal language that can be celebrated with people across all cultural backgrounds!"
